U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today will vote for fiscal responsibility and against reckless spending. “Raising the debt ceiling while massively increasing spending is deeply irresponsible,” said Daines. “It offends Montanan common sense and the basic principles of fiscal responsibility. I strongly oppose this deal.”  The budget deal: Increases discretionary spending by $300 billion. Only provides $100 billion in offsets. Raises the debt ceiling without reducing spending. U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines joined bipartisan colleagues in calling for a special investigation to focus on the decades of abuse in the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Gymnastics. “It’s sickening that young girls, representing our country, were abused for decades by someone who should have been a trusted ally,” said Daines. “We must investigate why this abuse was ignored and how this was covered up by the U.S. Gymnastics and U.S. Olympic Committee.
