Daines, Zinke Stand With American Legion Against Iran Deal

Senator Steve Daines and Representative Ryan Zinke today released the following statements following a vote taken at the American Legion National Convention by the body to publically and officially oppose the Iran nuclear agreement.

“The men and women of the American Legion have experienced first-hand the sacrifices made in times of war,”Daines stated. “I stand with the American Legion in my continuing opposition to the Iran nuclear agreement which keeps Iran on track to obtain a nuclear weapon and will only increase their destructive influence as the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism.”

“I am proud to stand with the American Legion and the American people in opposition to the President’s Iran ‘Deal,” Zinke stated. “The idea of legitimizing the nuclear capabilities of Iran – a regime directly responsible for the killing of thousands of Americans and who is the leading state-sponsor of terrorism around the globe – is reckless and represents a clear and present danger to America and our allies, as the men and women of the Legion know all too well.”

The vote occurred today during the 2015 American Legion National Convention in Baltimore, Maryland.

Americans oppose this deal nearly two-to-one, according to a recent poll conducted by the independent pollsters at Quinnipiac University. And, according to a Monmouth University poll, when asked whether the United States or Iran got the better end of the deal, 41 percent (compared to only 14 percent) responded that the regime in Tehran gained more.
