Daines to Welcome Neville Ray to Montana Tech Summit

U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that the Neville Ray, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of T-Mobile, will deliver remarks at the Montana High Tech Jobs Summit.

The Summit, co-sponsored by Daines, will take place in Missoula on October 9. The Montana Tech Summit will serve as a unique opportunity to bring together the nation’s tech leaders in the hub of Montana’s growing technology sector.  The Summit will highlight Montana’s growing role in the nation’s high-tech economy and serve as an opportunity to discuss ways to create more good-paying Montana tech jobs.

“Neville Ray knows the importance of working with local communities to expand services and will be incredibly beneficial in expanding wireless access in Montana,” Daines stated. “I’m thrilled to bring T-Mobile’s Neville Ray to Montana so he can share the job opportunities in our state and the hardworking folks who can benefit from the company.”

“Senator Daines is a proven leader in the U.S. Senate on technology issues and I’m delighted to join with him and others at the Montana High Tech Jobs Summit to discuss T-Mobile’s expanded presence in Montana, the competition and innovation we’re helping to accelerate across the state, and what 5G technology will bring to all, including those who live in rural America,” Ray stated.

Neville R. Ray serves as T-Mobile’s Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.  Mr. Ray joined T-Mobile USA (then VoiceStream) in April 2000 and since December 2010 has served as its Chief Technology Officer, responsible for the national management and development of the T-Mobile USA wireless network and the company’s IT services and operations.  Prior to joining T-Mobile USA, Mr. Ray served as Network Vice President for Pacific Bell Mobile Services.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance, a mobile telecommunications association of mobile operators, vendors, manufacturers and research institutes.  He also serves on the Board of Governors of 5G Americas, which provides the 3GPP family of technologies and served as the Chairperson from 2008 through 2013, and again in 2015.  He has also served as a member of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Commerce Spectrum Management Advisory Committee and the Federal Communications Commission’s Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council.  Mr. Ray is an honors graduate of The City University of London and a member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Before being elected to Congress, Daines spent 12 years working in the technology sector.
