Daines to Welcome Jason Small, Boilermaker Leader & Northern Cheyenne Tribal Member, as Guest for State of the Union
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Steve Daines today announced that Jason Small, President of Boilermakers Local 11, small business owner and Northern Cheyenne tribal member, will serve as Daines’ guest of honor for the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C. tomorrow night.
“It’s my honor to welcome Jason Small as my guest for the upcoming State of the Union address,” Daines stated. “As President of Boilermakers Local 11 and an experienced labor advocate, Jason is a proven leader in standing up against the Obama administration’s devastating anti-coal, anti-energy agenda that threatens hardworking Montana families, union workers and tribal members. I look forward to having Jason join me tomorrow night to share his perspective about the consequences of President Obama’s assault on Montana coal jobs and affordable energy.”
“I want to thank Senator Daines for inviting me to be his guest at this year’s State of the Union address,” Small stated. “Coal supports good-paying jobs for union workers and tribal members in eastern Montana and is a critical driver of our state’s economy. But Washington, D.C.’s out of touch regulations are hurting Montana families. It’s important that we send a strong message to President Obama that these job-killing regulations need to be stopped.”
As Daines’ guest, Small will watch President Obama’s 2016 State of the Union address from the gallery of the House of Representatives.
Small is a resident of Busby and a strong advocate for Montana coal jobs and Montana energy.
The State of the Union is scheduled for Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 7:00 PM MST.
