U.S. SENATE –U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced $5,075,000 will be directed to Montana through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to expand the state’s capacity for testing, contact tracing, and containment to strengthen Montana’s transition to safely reopen.
“This funding will help ensure our state has the testing and tools needed to keep Montanans healthy and safe as our state begins to safely reopen,” Daines said.
Daines fought to secure $4.3 billion for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help states and localities enhance mitigation efforts, laboratory capacity, infection control, and other preparedness and response activities in the Phase Three Coronavirus Economic Recovery Package.
The CDC will direct $5,075,000 to Montana to:
- Establish or enhance the ability to aggressively identify cases, conduct contact tracing and implement containment measures
- Improve morbidity and mortality surveillance
- Enhance testing capacity
- Control COVID-19 in high-risk settings and protect vulnerable or high-risk individuals
- Support healthcare systems to manage and monitor system capacity
CDC will use existing networks to reach out to state and local jurisdictions to access this funding.
