Daines Secures Over $300,000 for Pipeline Safety in Montana

U.S. SENATE — U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced $327,650 in grants to the State of Montana to enhance pipeline safety across the state.

“I’m glad to see Montana receive this support as pipelines are critical to Montana communities, Montana energy jobs and tax revenue for Montana counties. Pipelines are the most environmentally friendly way to transport oil and natural gas, so we must continue to invest in them,” Daines said.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration State Based Grants program is funded through the U.S. Department of Transportation and supports state pipeline safety programs. The State of Montana will use the grants to help counties develop emergency response plans and provide specialized training for first responders.

Daines voted for this funding in December 2020.
