Daines Secures Nearly $200,000 for Manhattan, Missoula Firefighters

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program will be directing $196,496.64 to Manhattan and Missoula to support their fire departments’ ability to respond to fires and other public safety hazards.

“This critical funding is about getting the resources needed to help our firefighters on the front lines respond to any fires or public safety emergencies,” Daines said. “I’m glad to have worked to secure this funding and I will continue fighting to ensure Montana firefighters have the resources they need to keep our communities safe.”

Of the $196,496.64, $37,619.05 will be directed to Manhattan and $158,877.59 will be directed to Missoula. For more information on the funding, click HERE.

The AFG program makes funds available directly to fire departments, State Fire Training Academies and non-affiliated EMS organizations to support enhanced fire emergency response capabilities to fires and other hazards. Daines voted to secure funding for the AFG program last year.

Background:

Last month, Daines announced that the AFG program would be directing $50,000 to support the local fire department in the City and County of Butte-Silver Bow.
