Daines Kicks Off 56 County Tour of the Treasure State

U.S. Senate – U.S. Senator Steve Daines this weekend kicked off his 56-county tour of the Treasure State in the 116th Congress, with eight stops across eastern Montana.

Every Congress, Daines visits all 56 counties. This weekend, Daines visited Billings, Glasgow, Wolf Point, Glendive, Wibaux, Terry, Circle, and Sidney.

Billings: On Friday, Daines kicked off the morning with a visit to the Rimrock Facility in Billings. While on his visit, Daines heard from folks at Rimrock about the benefits of Daines’ legislation keeps mothers undergoing substance abuse treatment with their children during that treatment. Daines also heard from leaders of the group that the most-abused substance of the people they treat is meth.

56 County Tour 1 

Glasgow: Following his visit in Billings, Daines visited Glasgow where he heard from folks in the community. They discussed everything from access to healthcare for our veterans, to ensuring that Daines remains committed to securing the southern border as their law enforcement are working tirelessly to fight the Mexican meth from coming into Glasgow.

56 County Tour 2  

Wolf Point: After Glasgow, Daines made a stop in Wolf Point. In Wolf Point, Daines heard from local law enforcement, including the county sheriff, on Mexican meth that is coming into their community and tearing families apart. In the meeting, the members of law enforcement thanked Daines for his commitment to securing the southern border as it impacts their lives daily.

 

56 County Tour 3

Glendive: In Glendive, Daines visited the Eastern Montana Veterans Home. During the visit, Daines presented Vietnam vets with pins to thank them for their service and dedication to our nation.

 

56 County Tour 4

Wibaux: On Saturday, Daines began with breakfast in Wibaux. At the breakfast, Daines heard from community leaders, including Sheriff Shane Herrington, on issues that are impacting Wibaux including the need to secure the southern border to stop the flow of illegal drugs coming into the community.

56 County Tour 5

Terry: Daines then visited Terry where he took questions from community members and heard their concerns. They discussed veterans access to healthcare and the need to secure the southern border and stop the flow of illegal drugs from coming into the community.

56 County Tour 6 

Circle: After Terry, Daines met with folks in Circle. They discussed the need for rural health and how to ensure every Montanan has the access to health care they need and deserve. They also discussed the importance of water to the community, and Daines’ efforts to ensure they have the clean water they deserve.

Sidney: Daines finished his day in Sidney, where he took questions from the community. They discussed community banks, health care for veterans, and water rights. They also thanked Daines for his commitment to securing the southern border and taking the time to visit the southern border first hand.
