U.S. SENATE —U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced over $375,000 in grant funding to help prevent youth substance abuse in Montana. The grants, awarded by the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program under the Office of National Drug Control, will be given to three community coalitions including the Lincoln County Unite for Youth Coalition, Be the Change 406 Coalition, and Anaconda Community Intervention, Inc.
“Supporting our community leaders and coalitions is a key component to helping combat the drug epidemic in Montana,” Daines said. “This funding is critical to protecting our youth from getting involved in drug use and keeping our streets clean and our families safe.”
The Lincoln County Unite for Youth in Libby, Be the Change 406 Coalition in Dillon, and Anaconda Community Intervention, Inc. in Anaconda will each receive a $125,000 grant. The goal of the funding will help the groups establish and strengthen community collaboration in support of local efforts to prevent youth substance misuse. The grant awarded to the Anaconda Community Intervention, Inc., is an extension from a grant awarded a previous year.

In May 2017, Daines introduced a bipartisan bill to combat meth use across Montana and to strengthen Tribes’ ability to help fight the epidemic.
