“A secure electrical grid is critical to Montanans’ access to utilities,” said Daines. “The Cyber Safety Act will help prevent terrorists from breaking into our system.”

“Rural Co-Ops and the rest of the energy utilities sector support this bill,” said Matheson. “It will facilitate better sharing among the utilities sector and relevant federal agencies.”

Daines Efforts to Protect Privacy and Enhance Cyber Security:

On February 7, 2018, Daines introduced the Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act (SAFETY Act), which would strengthen America’s ability to combat cyber-terrorism by protecting certain makers of anti-terrorism technologies from lawsuits.

On February 2, 2017, introduced legislation to support research and development that will boost cybersecurity innovation.
