Oil and gas takes another hit with suspension of federal leases
The oil and gas industry in Montana and North Dakota took another hit Thursday when the Department of the Interior announced it will suspend new oil and gas leases on federal lands for 60 days as part of a broad review of Interior’s programs. The move is a first step toward making good on promises that newly sworn in President Joe Biden made on the campaign trail to halt new drilling and hydraulic fracturing on federal lands. The suspension won’t limit activity under already existing leases. Companies can continue to drill and develop those acres. Presently, about 20 percent of
Montana GOP officials blast Biden’s environmental actions
President Joe Biden’s new administration wasted no time taking executive actions aimed at combating climate change and protecting the environment. And Montana’s top Republican leaders have wasted no time criticizing those actions, saying they will kill jobs and make the United States more dependent on foreign oil. U.S. Sen. Steve Daines, U.S. Rep. Matt Rosendale and Gov. Greg Gianforte each have criticized Biden’s decision to halt construction of the long-disputed Keystone XL oil pipeline, which would run through six states, including Montana, on its way from Alberta, Canada, to the Texas Gulf Coast. Biden revoked a permit for the pipeline
‘Saudi Arabia First Plan’: Sen. Steve Daines Decries Biden’s Cancellation Of Keystone XL Pipeline
Republican Montana Sen. Steve Daines on Friday criticized President Joe Biden’s administration over the rejection of TC Energy’s concessions offered to keep plans for construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline in place. Daines appeared on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” and was asked by host Bill Hemmer about the offer from the company that runs the pipeline, which included “10,000 American union construction jobs, steel pipe made in the U.S, $10 million in green job training fund, $500 million for indigenous suppliers and jobs, and 100% renewable power to operate the pipeline within 8 to 10 years.” “I think it’s all

I’m demanding this be fixed NOW,” Daines Tweeted. “I’ve spoken with [Montana National Guard] soldiers on the ground tonight & will continue to stay in touch. These are American heroes. Joe Biden putting ‘Saudi Arabia first’ by halting Keystone XL pipeline: Sen. Daines
Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., believes President Biden killing the Keystone XL pipeline shows he’s putting “Saudi Arabia first,” not American workers. “It looks like he cares more about workers in Saudi Arabia than the workers in America,” Daines said on “America’s Newsroom.” “This is going to have a direct effect [on] the pocketbooks of the American people here in the middle of a pandemic.” Biden signed a total of 17 executive orders within minutes of entering the Oval Office for the first time on Wednesday. The orders reversed a number of Trump administration policies and covered areas Biden identified as
GOP Sen. Daines: Biden Going with ‘Saudi Arabia First Plan’ by Ending Keystone XL Pipeline
Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), a member of the Senate Energy Committee, on Friday, slammed President Joe Biden’s “radical” agenda that halted the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. The move erased 11,000 jobs in the United States. Daines said the immediate decision to nix the Keystone Pipeline is “outrageous” and “all part of President Biden’s Saudi Arabia First Plan.” “I think it’s all part of President Biden’s Saudi Arabia First Plan,” Daines said on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom.” “It looks like he cares more about workers in Saudi Arabia than the workers in America. this is the kind of
