Daines Statement on Venezuela War Powers Vote

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement today regarding his vote on the Venezuela War Powers Resolution:

“The War Powers Act grants presidents clear authority for the use of limited military force. President Trump was well within this authority when he brought Nicolas Maduro to justice. Congress was notified within 48 hours of the operation and the withdrawal was done not in 60 days but less than three hours. There are also no ongoing military operations in Venezuela. Furthermore, Maduro is an indicted narco-terrorist with a bounty on his head from the Biden and Trump administrations who will now face justice as a result of President Trump’s work and the bravery of law enforcement and service members.”
