U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today joined Fox News to discuss President Trump’s strong response to narcotrafficking and the situation in Venezuela.

Daines on how President Trump is countering Maduro’s illegitimate regime of narco-terrorism:
I’m very proud and grateful for President Trump’s bold and decisive leadership as our Commander in Chief. You can’t win by only having your defense on the field. You’ve got to put the offense on the field if you’re going to win. You think about why the President is taking this decisive action. You know, 100,000 Americans die every year because of drug overdoses. In fact, it’s the leading cause of death for 18- to 45-year-olds. Cocaine deaths in this country are up 85 percent while Joe Biden was president. He had, something has to be done, and President Trump has taken the fight to these narco-terrorists. And as it has been stated, Maduro is an illegitimate leader. It was a stolen election. He’s running and facilitating a narco-terrorist organization, the drugs are flooding into our country, combined with the criminals, the Tren de Aragua, the organized criminal gangs, opening up the jail cells, flooding into America. In fact, we arrested a handful of these TDA members in Montana a few months ago.
Daines on President Trump’s bold leadership:
Well, we’ll wait and see what happens because we’re not sure exactly what the operation looks like. But I would tell you this, I have incredible confidence in President Trump’s bold leadership, his decision-making, his wisdom, and you’re seeing he is resetting the world order because of his peace through strength. You don’t negotiate with terrorists or narco-terrorists. You’ve got to take them out. And that’s what you’re seeing with this bold action, taking out the boats full of drugs coming to our shores. These drugs are killing our children, adults, our neighbors. It’s got to end. Joe Biden allowed it to happen on his watch. President Trump is going to stop it on his watch… I’m sure it is not a good day for Maduro. As President Trump said in his interview, other countries are watching. You know who else is watching what’s going on right now? Mexico. You’ve got these cartels that are terrorist organizations that are flooding our southern border with fentanyl, a very deadly drug. He [Trump] is putting the world on notice that it’s going to end. You can’t allow these narco-terrorists to have unfettered access into the United States. I’m grateful, as a father of four and grandfather of seven for President Trump protecting our family and families across America.
Daines on President Trump’s decisive action against drug cartels:
That image is a pretty strong deterrence to what’s happening right now in the oceans there between the United States and South America. But when you go into a battle, it’s immoral not to go in with use of overwhelming force. Every tool in the toolbox. Otherwise, you don’t want to be risking American lives unless we’ve got overwhelming force. President Trump is leading with bold decisiveness and the use of overwhelming force. That’s the fastest way to achieve the outcome the President desires.
