Daines Statement on Situation in Georgia

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Chairman of the European Subcommittee, issued the following statement today regarding the political situation in Georgia. Daines traveled to Georgia in May and met with Prime Minister Kobakhidze.

“The recent developments in Georgia are extremely troubling, especially the false accusations that former U.S. government employees are undermining Georgia’s government. When I met with Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze in May I encouraged him to work closely with President Trump and his administration to advance our mutual security and economic interests and I reiterate that message today. The Georgian people deserve the right to free and fair elections and to chart the course for their country.”
