U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today joined Fox Business to discuss Iran’s nuclear program and how it will never be used for peaceful purposes. Daines also discussed trade with China and President Trump’s visit to the Federal Reserve.

Watch the full interview HERE.
Daines on Iran’s nuclear program:
“Look I don’t trust this Iranian regime. I trust them about as far as I can throw them. They have no credibility. There’s no veracity to what they are saying. Why is it that we had to send B-2’s with bunker buster bombs to destroy their capabilities because they were hundreds of feet below ground? If this was truly nuclear capabilities for peaceful purposes, it’d be in the light, it’d be on the surface. If they want peaceful nuclear capabilities, that’s an easy problem to solve. They can buy that on the open market. I’m sure there’s plenty of companies that would be happy to come in and build nuclear reactors. Look, they are doing this because they want to build a nuclear bomb. They want to destroy America. They want to destroy Israel. They are the primary sponsor of terror for Hamas, for Hezbollah, for the Houthis. And so, count me skeptical in terms of what the Iranians say.”
Daines on the survival of the Iranian regime:
“Let’s remember something. The Iranians and this regime played Obama like a fiddle with the JCPOA negotiations years ago. Finally, we had a leader like President Trump who called their bluff and finally is starting to bring true peace to the Middle East. But I think they’re just buying time, Stuart. And I think we need to continue the full-court press here to ensure we have a regime change. Not led by the Americans but led by the Iranian people. But there needs to be a regime change in Tehran. The Iranian people want to see a regime change. That needs to be done by the people, but we should keep economic sanctions tightened up, as well as ensuring that we’re in positions of strength with Israel and the United States. That’s how you eventually bring true peace to the Middle East and to Iran.”
Daines on trade with China:
“Stuart, I spent six years working in China with Procter & Gamble, launching American brands into that massive consumer market. But between the United States and China, it represents about 43 percent of the world’s GDP. This is a very important trading relationship, economic relationship overall, as well as two of the largest militaries in the world now. China has built their military into a significant power. It’s very important we have dialogue between President Trump and Xi Jinping. They’re going to disagree on a lot of things, but I think it’s important to keep the communication channels open. And I believe that having meaningful engagement is an important next step, and I’m pleased to see President Trump start to talk about a possible meeting between himself and Xi Jinping.”
Daines spoke on the Federal Reserve and President Trump’s visit:
“Well, I think he’s concerned when you saw a massive overrun in cost for this renovation. President Trump is doing all he can to make sure the taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. So, I’m sure he’s got a few things to say and try to get an explanation to why there’s this massive overrun in spending for this renovation program. I’m sure Secretary of the Treasury Bessent will be right there with him. I trust Secretary Bessent and President Trump. I’m sure it’ll be productive.”
