U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today joined Fox Business to discuss the importance of destroying Iran’s nuclear capabilities and the need to support Israel, as well as the ongoing talks about the SALT cap in the Senate reconciliation bill.

Daines on the SALT Deduction:
I think it’s important to understand why we’re having this debate on this SALT deduction. Here’s the problem. You’ve got lower tax red states who are subsidizing high-tax blue states. The right answer is for the blue states to challenge their governors and state legislators to stop their wild spending, their high taxes, and reduce the tax burden in those blue states. The way the House has the bill written with this $40,000 state and local tax deduction is red states are paying for blue state problems. That’s why we’re having the fight in the battle. It’s not lost to me, the political problem we face here. There’s going to be discussions going on between the Senate in the House. They’re going on as we speak to find a solution, a compromise. But we need to have this debate. This cost $350 billion, this one provision alone. That’s why the Senate changed it.
Daines on Israel’s War Against Iran:
It is time to destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities. They are in the verge of breakout to getting a 90 percent uranium -rich type material which allows them to have a nuclear bomb. This is a country, a regime, that openly says, “Death to America.” That calls Israel, “The little Satan,” and the United States, “The big Satan.” With Hamas on its heels, Hezbollah neutered the Houthis on their heels, this is a unique window of time. Thank God that Israel can act preemptively and stop Iran from ever getting a nuclear bomb. That is a threat not just to the Middle East, but the entire world. President Trump is exactly right. The time for discussions are over. The Iranians have had a chance to come up with a deal. They haven’t. It is time to take out their nuclear capabilities.
