Daines Secures Major Montana Wins in National Defense Authorization Act

Bill Includes Pay Raise for Troops, Improvements to Housing Benefits, Support for the Mission at Malmstrom

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines announced that several of his legislative priorities passed the Senate in the “National Defense Authorization Act” (NDAA), including a pay raise for troops, improvements to Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) authorities, critical funding for the mission at Malmstrom, and construction authorizations for the Montana National Guard. The NDAA will now head to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

“America’s military is the best fighting force in the world and Montana service members are the best warriors in the country. This bill ensures our military maintains President Trump’s ‘peace through strength’ strategy by giving our troops a much-deserved pay raise, providing improvements to the Basic Allowance for Housing, travel reimbursement for the National Guard, and providing funding for Malmstrom Air Force Base,” said Daines.

Montana wins in the NDAA:

  • 3.8 percent pay raise for military service members
  • Modernizes military BAH to help recognize Montana housing costs
  • Protects Malmstrom ICBM mission from missile and force reductions
  • Authorizes improvements to on-base family housing
  • Construction developments for Weapons Storage Facility in Malmstrom
  • Maintains Daines’ 2024 NDAA provision ensuring Reserve and National Guard troops are reimbursed for travel expenses
