U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today joined Newsmax to discuss the ongoing Schumer shutdown.

Watch the full interview HERE.
Daines on how Democrats are keeping shutdown going:
Daines: Well, we’re going to find out for sure in the next 90 minutes when these votes begin. Last night, I think there was some hope. There was some pretty good dialogue going on between some Democrat senators and Republicans, common sense type discussions about how we could move forward to get this clean CR passed, but I’m afraid the far left has captured that now, and I’m not as optimistic as I was last night. I’ve not seen such political theater here in Washington since Hamilton. I mean, this really is all about theatrics. It’s about the far-left side of the Democrat Party taking hostages within Democrat Senators. They really have. If you look at all the polling data, even Democrats, they’re split pretty evenly about this shutdown.
Daines on Democrats are keeping the government shut down for political points:
Daines: Well, certainly Chuck Schumer is in a terrible position. That Washington Post article, I’ll bet it was exactly right, they have flown into a box canyon. They’ve taken out hostage Now they don’t know what to do. They’re in difficult position these shutdowns as I’ve seen in the past, they start with a big bang they end with a whimper at some point. They’re going to realize there’s not a political objective or policy objective to be obtained. This is a very easy problem to solve all we need is five Democrat senators you join the rest of us as Republicans and vote yes here in 90 minutes and then you can start the negotiation moving forward in these spending bills between now and November 21st. This is exactly what is the standard mode of operation in Washington over many, many years, except for one thing has changed. Chuck Schumer is afraid of his political future. That’s why this truly is a Schumer shutdown.
