“The War on Made-in-Montana Energy is Coming to an End”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today issued the following statement applauding President Trump and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin overturning two of Joe Biden’s mandates designed to punish Montana’s Colstrip Power Plant. By reversing the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) Rule and the Clean Power Plan 2.0 (CCP 2.0), President Trump will ensure that Colstrip Power Plant in Montana’s Rosebud County will remain operational.
“The war on Made-in-Montana energy is coming to an end. Rather than kow-tow to the demands of radical environmentalists, President Trump put Montana workers and families first. Montanans can go to bed tonight knowing their energy sources and jobs are secure. I’ll continue to fight with President Trump and his administration for Montana-first policies that will increase our energy dominance,” said Daines.
Background:
The Biden administration targeted the Colstrip Power Plant with harmful policies, including the MATS Rule and CCP 2.0, that threatened to force the plant to close. On April 1st, Senator Daines led a letter to Trump’s U.S. Environmental Protection Agency explaining the significance of the plant and urging a two-year compliance exemption from these Biden-era policies. Read the letter HERE. As a result, on April 15th, President Trump signed an Executive Order to keep the plant open. Read Daines’ statement thanking President Trump HERE.
