U.S. SENATE—U.S. Senator Steve Daines today issued the following statement:
“It is unacceptable that our current policies allow for illegal aliens with extensive criminal histories to be released into Montana communities,” Daines stated. “We must work together with law enforcement to protect innocent Montanans and ensure that our laws are working for Americans, not illegal aliens.”
The Senator has been briefed on this situation and will continue to monitor it closely.
On January 23rd, U.S. Border Patrol pursued four individuals suspected in an illegal border crossing and arrested and charged three of them. After releasing the fourth who claimed to be an American citizen, the Border Patrol learned that the man is a Somali national, a Canadian resident and is wanted by Canadian authorities. He also has ties to a violent cross border gang. U.S. authorities are currently working to locate the man.
