Daines Attends White House COVID-19 Vaccine Summit

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today was at the White House for the COVID-19 Vaccine Summit. Daines was asked to join because of his work on COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutic drugs under Operation Warp Speed (OWS). The Summit highlighted the success of OWS, which has been critical in the accelerated development, manufacturing, and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.

“Just finished up a great meeting with President Trump and his Operation Warp Speed team, this truly is remarkable that were going to have these vaccines available for Montanans and the American people before the end of the year. A job well done,” Daines said.

Daines was instrumental in securing funding for the research, development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics under OWS – with top researchers, scientists and administration officials touting the Senator’s work. Daines is also participating in Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine trial, where he’s leading by example for Montanans and the American people wondering if they should get the vaccine once it’s approved.

During the Summit, President Trump signed an Executive Order to prioritize Americans getting the vaccine.

At the Summit, the Senator joined President Trump, Vice President Pence, OWS leaders, Administration officials and leaders that will play a key role in the distribution of a vaccine once it’s approved, including CVS, Walgreens, FedEx and UPS.

A COVID-19 vaccine may receive approval as early as this weekend.
