Daines Condemns Senate Democrats for Blocking Bill to Stop Infanticide

U.S. SENATE – U.S. Senator Steve Daines today condemned Senate Democrats for blocking the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The bill would make it federal law that born-alive babies who survive abortions must be treated the same as every other living baby – with dignity. The vote to proceed to the bill, requiring 60 votes to pass, failed 53-44.

“It is unconscionable that Senate Democrats voted to make it legal in the U.S. to kill or neglect a baby who was born alive,” Daines said. “Infanticide is not, and should not be, a partisan issue. I will continue to fight to respect the dignity of every human life.”

Before the vote, Daines spoke on the floor of the United States Senate to urge his colleagues to support the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Daines won’t stop fighting until every human life is protected.

Similar legislation is expected to be introduced in the Montana state legislature in the coming weeks.
