U.S. SENATE —U.S. Senator Steve Daines today announced that the Lake County Community Development Corporation (LCCDC) has been awarded a grant of $499,983 to renovate the Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center in Ronan. The grant, distributed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will also be used to help purchase new equipment for the center.
“The Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center does good work in providing assistance to Montana food businesses while also creating jobs in areas suffering from high rates of poverty,” Daines said. “I was happy to support this grant request and I’m glad to see the Lake County Community Development Corporation received this funding.”
Statement of Support:
Jan Tusick, Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center Director: “Lake County Community Development Corporation is thankful for Senator Daines support in our successful application to the DPHHS CEDS grant program. This grant will increase Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center capacity in assisting in the expansion of small scale food and agriculture businesses in Montana and create 25 jobs. Thank you Senator Daines for your good work.”
On May 24, 2018, Daines sent a letter of support for the grant application to the Administration for Children and Families.
The grant funding will also help support the creation of 25 jobs for low income residents in Lake, Mineral and Sanders Counties.
The Lake County Development Corporation’s Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center (MMFEC) serves as a designated Food and Agriculture Development Center, providing technical assistance to developing Montana food businesses in food safety, protocol, training programs, product development, financial planning, and feasibility analysis.
