U.S. SENATE —U.S. Senator Steve Daines today recognized Craig and Becky Barrus of Trout Creek as his 2018 “Angels in Adoption.”
“Angels in Adoption” is supported by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) as a way to honor Americans making a difference in the lives of children through adoption.
“Nominating Craig and Becky Barrus as our Angels in Adoption is a true honor,” Daines said. “With Becky having been a former foster child herself, the Barruses understand the importance of instilling family values and responsibility, and embody the principle that every child deserves to have loving parents. Becky and Craig have gone above and beyond for their children and community, and continue to serve as an inspiration to us all.”
“Thank you to Senator Daines for this honor,” Craig said. “We feel honored to represent Montana in this great program.”

Craig and Becky have five adopted sons. In addition to making an impact on their children’s life, the couple runs the Open Gate Ranch in Trout Creek, Montana, which serves as a home for children that have been abandoned, neglected or lack a safe living environment.
Erik Barrus, a former intern for the CCAI and one of Craig and Becky’s sons, nominated his parents.
A quote from Erik about his parents: “My adoptive parents have been a large influence in my life and have guided me to help others who are currently in foster care. They’ve taught me what it means to be a part of a family. For the first time I felt like I had a mother and father that loved and cared about me and I was their son. They taught by example how to give and receive love, and how families are always there for each other – through thick and thin. . . They take boys into their home from all across the State of Montana and give them a safe refuge as well as unabashed love.”
