Daines: Shulkin Confirmed for VA Secretary

U.S. SENATE —U.S. Senator Steve Daines today released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm President Donald J. Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), David Shulkin.

“I know that Secretary Shulkin will put our veterans’ needs first by prioritizing timely access to quality care,” Daines stated. “Secretary Shulkin has a tall order in front of him to refocus the VA to uphold the promise our government made to our veterans to get the job done right.  I look forward to working with him for Montana’s veterans.”

On January 31, Daines met with Shulkin in his Washington, D.C. office where they discussed ensuring access to healthcare, especially in rural areas.

In a letter to Shulkin on January 25, Daines underscored his commitment to working with Shulkin to improve access to timely and quality care for veterans and invited him to Fort Harrison.
