Daines Announces Commerce Subcomittee Assignments

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Steve Daines today announced that he was selected to serve on four subcommittees on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee for the 114thCongress.

Daines will serve on Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Subcommittees on Communications, Technology, Innovation and the Internet; Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance and Data Security; Space, Science and Competitiveness; and Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security.

As the former vice president of RightNow Technologies, a Montana-based software and technology company, Daines brings a unique perspective and valuable experience to the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.

Daines noted that these subcommittees will also help him to directly address issues critical to growing Montana’s economy and promoting private sector job creation by protecting and advocating for the nation’s transportation infrastructure, maintaining a free and accessible Internet, improving technology infrastructure and increasing our global competiveness.  

“These subcommittee assignments will allow me to be at the forefront of the Senate’s efforts to encourage creation of good paying jobs and streamline our federal government so that it works more efficiently for all Montanans,” Daines stated. “I’m excited to get started and work to deliver much needed results that get our economy working again for hardworking Montana families and small businesses.”

Daines also serves on the Senate Committees on Appropriations, Energy and Natural Resources and Indian Affairs. Daines previously announced his subcommittee assignments for Appropriations, which are available here. Subcommittee assignments for the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources are expected to be made in coming days.
