“President Trump kept his promise of America First through this process and the American people and the world will be better off for it”
U.S. SENATE— U.S. Senator Steve Daines, Chairman of the European Subcommittee of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, joined President Trump, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today at the White House for the historic signing of a landmark peace agreement and joint declaration between the two countries as well as related bilateral agreements. Additionally, the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity was announced at the ceremony, which will help stabilize the region and benefit the American people and American businesses. Daines travelled to both countries in May with members of President Trump’s team and helped lay the groundwork for the agreement.
“Today’s agreement is a remarkable achievement and another step toward stability in the south Caucasus that advances international peace for the region as well as the United States. I commend President Trump and his team for combining the President’s peace-through-strength model with pragmatic, creative diplomacy in order to unlock the promise of brighter days ahead for both countries. President Trump kept his promise of America first through this process and the American people and the world will be better off for it,” said Daines.
